Little Cowboy Quilt

This little quilt was made using fat quarters and some yardage I had left over from other quilts.  I like to buy fat quarters of western fabrics when I see them that would be suitable for a small child.  Sometimes it is hard to  pick out little boy fabrics and all little boys like cowboys.

A simple quilt, just cut as many 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" rectangles as needed.  Because my quilts go to the wee ones in the hospital, it is only 36" x 42"; a larger  45" x 54" would require 9 fat quarters.  The pattern is from the booklet The Giving Quilt.

Didn't have backing so will have to finish next week.  I guess that means another trip to the quilt shop, hope I don't get in trouble there with all the new spring fabrics.

A Touch of French Country

This little tabletopper feels like a touch of French Country.  Love the colors of  Moda A Breath of Avignon, and the pattern is Simplicity from This and That.  It measures 23" x 23",  just the right size for my square table in the kitchen. Will definitely make this one again.

Disappearing Nine Patch--------Finished

Had a day of sewing yesterday, so decided to finish my Disappearing Nine Patch.  I knew we were expecting a big snow, ice, sleet storm, so decided if I was going to spray baste  (yes, I do use that sticky stuff) my quilt outside, I better do it before the storm arrived.  I machine quilted in a grid,  and put the binding on by machine.  I like to hand sew my binding, but when the quilts are going to the hospital they prefer no hand stitching.

All of you that will be experiencing the big snow storm, please stay dry, stay warm, and stay safe.  I hope this means a sewing day for you.  In north Texas everything has come to a halt, not what you want five days before Super Bowl.

Teachers Pet------No not me

Teachers Pet------No not me------the quilt, the pattern is Split Decision by Teachers Pet.  This pattern is so easy and goes together in a snap, one Moda jelly roll and two borders, that's it .  I love working with pre-cuts, not that I mind cutting, but pre-cuts get you to the sewing machine faster.

I actually made this quilt a year or so ago, had it quilted, but did not finish the binding.  Got it done, and  now I have another finish for 2011.  Completing a UFO feels so good
