A Touch of French Country

This little tabletopper feels like a touch of French Country.  Love the colors of  Moda A Breath of Avignon, and the pattern is Simplicity from This and That.  It measures 23" x 23",  just the right size for my square table in the kitchen. Will definitely make this one again.

Reproduction of a Reproduction

This is a little quilt I started some time ago.  I was never quite sure about it as I used all Thimbleberries rather than Civil War fabrics.  The colors and prints are similar but just does not look the same, like a reproduction of a reproduction..  Well, I went ahead and quilted it and put the binding on.

There was a time when I really loved Thimleberries but my taste have changed.   I have learned, don't buy too much a of one designer or collection,  surely you will fall out of love with it in time.

Disappearing Nine Patch--------Finished

Had a day of sewing yesterday, so decided to finish my Disappearing Nine Patch.  I knew we were expecting a big snow, ice, sleet storm, so decided if I was going to spray baste  (yes, I do use that sticky stuff) my quilt outside, I better do it before the storm arrived.  I machine quilted in a grid,  and put the binding on by machine.  I like to hand sew my binding, but when the quilts are going to the hospital they prefer no hand stitching.

All of you that will be experiencing the big snow storm, please stay dry, stay warm, and stay safe.  I hope this means a sewing day for you.  In north Texas everything has come to a halt, not what you want five days before Super Bowl.

Disappearing Nine Patch-----Wordless Tutorial

I know there have been thousands hundreds many tutorials of Disappearing Nine Patch on the Internet, but here is my interpretation of a Wordless Tutorial.  I used 81 - 5" squares and the approximate finished size is 39" x 39".  O.K., no more words.

Until next time,

Teachers Pet------No not me

Teachers Pet------No not me------the quilt, the pattern is Split Decision by Teachers Pet.  This pattern is so easy and goes together in a snap, one Moda jelly roll and two borders, that's it .  I love working with pre-cuts, not that I mind cutting, but pre-cuts get you to the sewing machine faster.

I actually made this quilt a year or so ago, had it quilted, but did not finish the binding.  Got it done, and  now I have another finish for 2011.  Completing a UFO feels so good

Quick and Easy Baby Quilt

Last week I purchased a kit for this quilt, not that I loved the fabric, but because I wanted to see how it was made with just 13 strips of  6" x 20"  fabric.  It is a good size for a newborn,  32" x 40".  I usually like to make my newborn quilts more square and will probably do that when I use my own fabric, but with the kit there wasn't an inch to spare.

The vertical seams don't line up when you sew the rows together, they are offset about an inch.  I thought it a little unusual, but went along with it,  does add a little more to the design.  It really is a fast, fun and easy quilt.  I put it together and still had time to watch football.  Gave it a wash to give it that quilty look.
